Braving the Elements After-school in Terrace, BC

Boby Wagner is passionate about the power of movement and the importance of physical activity for kids. As an NCCP Community cycling coach and iRide Instructor, Boby delivered an iRide After-school mountain bike program in Terrace this past autumn where kids between the ages of 7 – 10 years old were given the opportunity to get outside and be active.

The Terrace Kermode Kids iRide After-school program ran for six weeks at the city’s brand-new pump track with each session including a few skills, a game, and a trail ride in the local area.

Four different programs were offered during the week catering to the community’s unique needs. There was a program for home-school students that offered an earlier start-time, a program for girls, a session for Indigenous kids, and a Co-ed program.

“The program was a blast and it was really cool watching the kids take to the skills so quickly,” said Wagner at the conclusion of the program in late October. “Winter came early up north but we braved all sorts of weather and rode an all sorts of terrain.”

iRide’s After-school programs will begin ramping up again in the spring of 2021. For more information on iRide After-school, please visit https://hopon.cyclingbc.net/programs/after-school/
