Our program aims to help young riders learn new skills\, build confidence\, make friends\, and appreciate the challenges of outdoor exercise. \nThis autumn after-school program\, Good Foot Mountain Bikers presented by iRide\, includes six sessions designed for ages 9-12\, skill level 3-4.  Each session includes a few skills\, a game\, and a bike ride in the neighbourhood. Participants will need to bring a mountain bike (or a kid’s bike with gears)\, a helmet\, and of course\, their STOKE! \nAs recipients of an iRide Development Grant\, our instructors have registered with Cycling BC\, undergone NCCP-training\, and completed a background screening. In addition\, all sessions are covered by Cycling BC’s insurance policy with Gallagher and permitted by the Coast Mountain College. \nA minimum of 6 registrants is required to run this event. SUMMARY:HopOn School: Quilchena (39)
DESCRIPTION:A 3-day event for grade 4+\, the HopOn in-school program (formerly iRide) helps students learn basic cycling skills and safety awareness during gym class. Each class receives three 45-60 minute training sessions over three days with the goal of all children achieving skill level 3. In addition\, we provide bicycles and helmets for children between 4′ to 5’5″ feet tall at no additional charge. \nOur curriculum matches the BC Ministry of Education’s Prescribed Learning Outcomes and targets students in grades 4 to 6. We teach on all-weather fields\, grass fields\, and paved areas. The program helps students who already know how to pedal on their own. DESCRIPTION:HopOn Port Coquitlam p/b Thrashers Bike Club \nHello! I’m Drew Nelson\, and I am starting a new after-school bike skills program in the Tri-Cities for young children this spring.  I am a long-time cyclist and a parent to a young child. I am excited to start a new program in our neighbourhood and build upon the success of previous cycling events in the community. \nOur 2022 spring program is for riders with skill levels 0-1 (ages 4-6). This means our program is for 5-year-olds transitioning from their run bike to their pedal bike or helping new pedalers build confidence and make friends. \nOur six sessions include a few skills\, a game\, and a bike ride in the community. Parents of children still learning to pedal are welcome to stay during the session and provide support. Participants will need their bike\, a helmet\, and their STOKE! \nAs recipients of a HopOn Development Grant\, our instructors have registered with Cycling BC\, undergone NCCP training\, and completed a background screening. In addition\, Cycling BC’s insurance policy with Gallagher provides sports accident and general liability coverage for instructors and participants. \nProgram Dates: \n\nCastle Park\, Port Coquitlam\n\nMay 19\, 2022\nMay 26\, 2022\n\n\nLeigh Elementary\, Coquitlam (Permit Pending)\n\nJune 2\, 2022\nJune 9\, 2022\nJune 16\, 2022\nJune 23\, 2022\n\n\n\nDrop-in ($12) is now available for May 26 and onwards.
